Abstract
Abstract
Annona muricata L is a member of Annonaceae with antioxidant, anti inflammatory and anticancer properties, A randomized double blind placebo controlled pre post trial on twenty colorectal cancer patients who undergone primary tumor resection were conducted in two groups, A. muricata leaves extract, and placebo. Inflamatory responses were assessed by ELISA methods. There is no significant difference between pre and post of cytokine and cyclooxigenase serum level and between two groups. A strong correlation between serum level of TNF-α and IL-10 cytokine (coefficient correlation = 0.641) and a significant relationship (p = 0.009) was found in A. muricata leaves extract group, as shown by increased IL-10 production, in response to TNF-α in an inflammatory condition.
