Abstract
Honey contains many active compounds that have health benefits. Honey has a broadspectrum antibacterial activity and ability to support wound healing. This study to known the
effectiveness of apis dorsata honey in episiotomy wound healing in the rattus novergicus strain
wistar. This study was a true experiment with randomized post test only control group. The
number of samples was 14 rats that were divided into two groups: a group was given honey
treatment and the other group was given povidone iodine 10%. Before given treatment, a 1 cm
wound was made on perineal each rats. Wound care was done in every days. REEDA
assessment tool was used to asses the wound. There was signicant difference between the use
of honey and povidone iodine in episiotomy wound healing in the white rats (p = 0,038). Based
on the average of REEDA score every day, honey gave better effect than povidone iodine 10%.
Honey gave better effect than povidone iodine 10% in episiotomy wound healing. Apis dorsata
honey could be use as the alternatives dressing in episiotomy wound.
