DETERMINAT FACTORS OF STUDENT SMOKING BEHAVIOR IN MTs N LEGOK, TANGERANG IN 2016

ABSTRACT
Smoking behavior among teenager is increasingly worrisome. Teens who become regular smoker are getting younger in every year. This preliminary research shows that eleven from twelve students from MTs Negeri 3 Pamulang (Islamic Junior Secondary School) admitted to smoking. The purpose of this research is to analyze the relation between smoking behaviors, and ages, attitude, knowledge, social environment, peers influences, parents smoking behaviors, amount of allowances, cigarettes advertisements, and others confounding variables in MTs N Legok Banten, Tangerang in 2016. This research is descriptive analytic by using cross-sectional layout. Survey correspondents are all male students in grade VII and VIII of MTs N Legok, Tangerang which amount 209 students. Survey sampling of the research is 110 respondents selected by using Simple Random Sampling method. Primary Data collection is conducted by using questioner. All data is analyzed by using univariate, bivariate and multivariate. Multivariate analysis indicates that parents smoking behavior has a major implication to student smoking behavior, which mean this variable is the dominant factor. In otherwise, peers influence, cigarettes advertisements, and social environment are confounding factors by the OR score 3,682. This result is expected to be an initial step for further examine all determinants associated with student smoking behavior. Definitively, this research is dedicated to prevent more teenagers becoming active smokers.
